MODERN TECH
Session 1:            Sound and Style - World Class Audio Systems

Description
Every upscale car audio system is a balance between aesthetics and performance. That balance is determined in the design stage of the installation. Do you use the factory speaker locations, or do other locations like doors, dash a-pillars, or sail panels provide better performance? Where should midbass, mid-range speakers, and tweeters each be located? Should those be in enclosures? Will subwoofers have cancellation issues if one is placed on each side of the trunk? Why does the bass go away when the trunk is closed and how to fix it. All of these are pros and cons for these locations are covered so you can more accurately predict what will happen. This saves time in tuning, helps maximize audio system performance, and pleases the customer no matter what their end goal is. In a nutshell; learn what to expect before you fab!

What you will learn
  • Pros and cons of each of the popular speaker locations
  • How speaker locations define the boundaries of image and stage
  • Why the OE providers put speakers where they put them
  • How to recognize the effects of reflections before they happen
  • How to choose crossover points and some tips for easier equalization
  • How to measure all of this before you begin (for nerds and technophiles)

Session 4:            OEM Gateway – Final Tune

Description
Sound system tuning uses sophisticated measurement tools not available many years ago and they can be intimidating to use and understand. It doesn’t need to be complicated. In this session, instructor Ken Ward shows attendees' practical steps toward audio system tuning for optimum results. He covers applications where a factory head unit may be retained as in many modern vehicle installs, as well as tuning in a completely aftermarket audio system whether in a restomod, classic truck, one-off creation or someone’s customized daily driver. Learn how to reduce wasted time and efforts in the process to get predictable, favorable results on a consistent basis. Make your customers’ cars the best sounding vehicles in your market!
